About New Smyrna Beach

Sitting on the east coast of Florida in Volusia County is New Smyrna Beach, a great city to enjoy a beach holiday in, about 20 miles south from Daytona Beach. Don’t let its reputation for being the “Shark Bite Capital of the World” scare you from visiting - it’s a marvelous place to go to kick back and relax.

The best time of year to visit New Smyrna Beach is during the spring or autumn months. June through August, the peak summer months, can be unbearably hot and humid. The winters in New Smyrna Beach are mild, but will likely be too cold to enjoy a day sunbathing or cruising on a boat. The summer months also see the most precipitation, and there’s a higher chance of a hurricane crashing into your holiday.

To get to New Smyrna Beach, you have three airport choices. Jacksonville International Airport is under a 2-hour drive, Daytona Beach Airport is a 20-minute drive, and just over an hour drive from Orlando. It’s easiest to hire a car to get to New Smyrna and to get around once you’re in the city, but you can also arrive by Greyhound Bus or train and get around the city by the local buses - the Voltran.

Captain Butch was wonderful he was very knowledge about the water and so patient with our party of 7 we ran a bit late. Our first time out on a Pontoon wish we done it sooner, had a relaxing time fishing and swimming on the sandbars. Dinner at the restaurant he recommended was also delicious and had a fun atmosphere. I would only recommend bringing an umbrella if you wanted to stay out on the sandbar a bit longer

10 Person Suntracker Pontoon Rental in New Smyrna Beach

If you're considering a boat rental in the New Smyrna Beach/Ponce Inlet area of Volusia County, THIS is the boat to rent! The boat was exactly as pictured and advertised. It was in superb condition and super clean throughout. The boat ran like a champ the entire rental. The boat has everything you need. It's basically a fishing boat combined with a pleasure craft. Even though we were just sightseeing and exploring, the boat has three casting chairs if you're looking to fish, and there's tons of rod storage. The large bimini top shaded about half the boat and the lounge-style seating beneath it was super comfortable. There is also an aft boarding platform with fold-down ladder which made it easy to get inside the boat after a swim. There's lots of storage and a pop-up table that can be set up for drinks and refreshments. There's a sound system with Bluetooth connection and a state-of-the-art depth finder that made navigation super easy. The owner made it easy for boat departure and return at the New Smyrna Marina, along the North Causeway of New Smyrna Beach. There was convenient parking adjacent to the docks for just $10 for the day. The owner provided super communication, including directions, a boating checklist, and even restaurant suggestions. He also arranged smaller life jackets for our younger children. We didn't have any real itinerary for our day other than spending an afternoon exploring the islands and waterways around Ponce Inlet. Beautiful area with lots of sandy beaches to explore. The beautiful Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in the state and one of the tallest in the U.S., was visible from every vantage point of our day. During our rental, we saw a pod of dolphins, a variety of birds, sea turtles, fish and even found a starfish on one of the beaches. It was a wonderful day of exploring! Great family memories.

Awesome day on the water! Ray was very hospitable, knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of questions from our group and he took time to answer them all. His boat was extremely clean and comfortable, plenty of room for coolers, beach bags and six people. Would highly recommend Ray and his boat! We will be calling him again!
