Frequently Asked Questions When is the best time to dive? Scuba Diving is available in Oriental Mindoro all year round. The wet season is between July and September and the Dry season starting October to June. I haven't dived in a long time, can I still dive? If the date of last dive was 18 months to 5 years ago, a refresher course is required. If your last dive was 5-10 years ago, a Re-activate course is required. If your last dive was over 10 years ago, a resort course or a full certification course is required. You may be asked to show your logbook for verification. Do I need a License to SCUBA Dive? No, you can try scuba diving with the one-day activity called the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Program. Can I solo dive? Simply, no. Solo diving is not allowed under any circumstances. All our dives will be under the supervision of a duly trained dive professional. What is the water temperature? The water temperature can vary from 24 degrees, during the colder months of November through April, up to a toasty warm 30 degrees during the summer months. Do I need to know how to swim in order to SCUBA Dive? The short answer is no (but it helps). You can take a PADI Discover Scuba Diving Program without knowing how to swim. If you would like to become a Certified PADI Diver then you will need to know how to swim 200m or snorkel 300m as one of the basic requirements for certification. Are there dangerous creatures I need to worry about? The golden rule is DO NOT touch. There are many different creatures that can bite or sting however they usually only do so in self-defense. If you don’t touch them they will not touch you. Sharks are highly misunderstood and just want to be your friend. :) What is the National Park Fee? The National Park fee is an additional fee which is charged by the local government to cover the cost of protecting our marine environment. Are the currents strong? The currents here can vary from location to location on a daily basis. Currents are taken into account when planning the daily dive site locations and ability level of the divers for that day. I've lost my Dive Certification Card, can I still dive? If you have a PADI certification, we can check your details with PADI dive check, just tell us your name (including middle initial) and your date of birth. For other training organizations you should contact the certify agency, dive shop or your instructor to replace your card and or gain proof of certification. Booking diving without proper proof of certification will result in cancellation of your dive with no refund or having to take a Discover Scuba Diving experience. How deep are the dive sites? Dive sites vary from as little as 5m to 30+ meters, divers will be restricted to diving within their training limits. Scuba Diver – 12m Open water – 18m (Junior 12m) Advanced – 30m (junior 21m) What type of wet suit will I need? We provide all our guests with a 3mm shorty. Depending on your personal preference and comfort level, a simple rash vest and shorts should be sufficient during the warmer season.
